 We recorded two concerts of Viktor at The Edinburgh Fringe 2012, it was a real pleasure. Viktor has already considerable experience on the concert platform, playing all over the world. He has even played for HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace twice. His music is available on itunes.

jon cohen

One of the UK's leading producers of Classical "Crossover" music. He has written and produced records for all UK major classical labels and has produced and written for artists such as Vanessa-Mae and Operababes. In 2006 Jon arranged and produced the album "Voices of The Valley" by the Fron Male Choir, which sold 500,000 copies and was the fastest selling classical album ever in the UK.

 Walter Nimmo & Jim Drife have been posing as respectable academics for many years. Now with retirement beckoning they've revealed their hidden lives as cabaret performers. As Abracadabarets they've been appearing irregularly on the Edinburgh Fringe since 1974 as well as entertaining at medical conferences in Britain and abroad.

iain mckinna - Iain is an Edinburgh based songwriter/producer with his own studio Offbeat. Over the years we have helped each other out on various projects, including ZED which was produced by Chris Harley of Runrig fame.

The Pipes and Drums latest album, Spirit of the Glen, which was released to critical acclaim in November 2007, reached the Number 1 spot in the Classic FM Charts for Christmas. The album also charted as high as Number 13 in the main pop charts.

Spirit of the Glen held the top spot in the Classic Charts for 8 weeks and has, to date, sold more than 300 000 records worldwide and as such has acheived 'Gold' status. This is the second Gold selling album the band has released - though with an interval of over 37 years!  A Copy of the CD was presented to the Prime Minister in December.

As a direct result of the album's success, it has been shortlisted for the album of the year award in the Classical Brits. Universal Records

martin wykes

 Martin is our number one session drummer. Any style of music can be played and with the added bonus he is super tight with a click track. What is great about Martin, he really is a thinking drummer, and always gives clients options. Martin is available for sessions and live work, just call us to book.

dougie mcquillan

 Dougie has been performing at Finnigan's Wake Victoria St, Edinburgh for so many years he has run out of fingers counting. He has produced numerous albums and is an Edinburgh legend on the

gerard kenny

 International performer and composer, who has written for Barry Manilow “I Made It Through The Rain” and ITV's Minder TV Theme “I Could So Good For You” and the ubiquitous "NewYork,NewYork". His career started in New York where he would perform with people such as Billy Joel. Gerard recorded the song "Canberra" at heartbeatstudio this was for the last sailing of the ship which he was a regular guest performer on.

susan boyle

 Susan recorded here at heartbeatstudio in 1999, she recorded three tracks "Cry Me A River", "Killing Me Softly" & "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". We knew at the time she was going to be a huge success someday. The recordings are not in the public domain, so we are unable to even give you a clip due to the enormous illegal downloading surrounding Susan.

bob heatlie

 Composer with credits including "Merry Christmas Everyone" with Shakin’ Stevens and "Japanese Boy" with Aneka both No.1 Hits. Grammy Award winner for the song "Cry Just A Little Bit". And at the moment writing for children's programmes such as "Kipper the Dog". In the late 70's Bob and David played together in the "Back Marker" in Tranent as "The Odd Couple", today they are more like Edinburgh's "Jack and Victor" from "Still Game".


 Evelyn & Willie produced an album of celtic songs with us. Evelyn’s lovely vocals and Willies classical guitar made a lovely mix. Some of the tracks we put some production on. For samples and to purchase their album visit

kenny herbert

 Edinburgh singer/songwriter, has recorded 2 albums and various singles in heartbeatstudio using some of the musicians on this site. Kenny has also co-written songs with David for other artists.

rab howat

 Rab has been part of heartbeatstudio since it opened in 1982, he joined RAF with David. Recently he has been songwriting with Kenny Herbert and also performing regularly in Edinburgh. He is a very versatile session guitarist and always comes up with rocking riffs and ideas.

moray innes

For years Moray was David's sax player, since joining the army he has found an incredible swing voice. He is regularly performing all over the country with a 16 piece swing band where he does a tribute to Sinatra and plays sax. Moray is available for session work.

david paton

 Pilot lead singer/songwriter with credits including "Magic" and "January" and pervious bass guitarist with Sir Elton John & Camel to name but a few. 

amanda lyon

 She is a local girl with a soul voice, doing many gigs around Europe, with the likes of Ray Wilson of Genesis fame. Amanda is a very talented session singer, who we have also co-written and produced an album of original songs with.

nobby clarke

 The first lead singer with Scotland's Bay City Rollers “Keep On Dancing”

mike purves

 For the last few years Mike has been writing an album of soul songs, which we have arranged and produced here at heartbeatstudioand also using session singer Amanda Lyon. He has also been a support artist with Gordon Campbell for Shakin' Stevens on a UK tour in the 80's.

colin chisholm

 Colin performed a dance mix of "Pretty Woman" which heartbeatstudioarranged and produced. We have also produced and mastered many of Colin's tracks for his hit stage show.

ashleigh gray

A London based musical theatre performer, Ashleigh sung her original demos here at heartbeatstudio. We were very impressed with her vocals and her performance. She has also performed on BBC and many of the top London stages.

writing on the wall

Jimmy Hush the drummer with Writing On The Wall has been mastering the last recording ever made of the band, which will shortly be available online. Jimmy has also recorded a solo album, and his sons have also done an EP

jamie mcbride

 A Jacobite album, was produced for Jamie. the album is full of anthemic scottish songs arranged to raise a nation again. The album has received great revues and is popular all over the world, with Jamie doing interviews in Australia.
